Revenge was most definitely on the menu at the Stade Ernest Wallon as the hosts, held 6-6 in the first half, roared clear in the second thanks to tries from Clement Poitrenaud, Valentin Courrent, Cedric Heymans and Vincent Clerc.

The victory, Toulouses second in this seasons competition, put them top of the Pool Six table and helped Guy Noves and his players erase some of the memories of their 2006 quarter-final exit at the hands of Leinster.

Cheika said: Were very disappointed to have lost the way we did, especially conceding that late bonus point.

You dont know how much it will matter as the pool pans out, but we shouldnt have allowed ourselves to be in that situation.

I feel for the players. they worked very hard, kept plugging away. We defended well in the first half and we were right in the game at half-time.

The second half was there for the taking but we fell away, kept making silly errors, Toulouse took their chances well and we ended up chasing the game. We werent helped by the injuries but thats no excuse.

Leinsters night went from bad to worse in the second half as scrum-half Chris Whitaker, who sustained a suspected broken ankle in the first period, was joined on the sidelines by Ireland duo Gordon DArcy and Girvan Dempsey.

Toulouse captain Yannick Jauzion was quick to put his the win in perspective.

Jauzion, who edged his midfield battle with Leinster skipper Brian ODriscoll, said: We put Leinster under a lot of pressure in the second half and they cracked.

Were pretty happy. It wasnt a complete performance but we succeeded in keeping up our aggressiveness and concentration for the whole match, which we didnt do last week against Edinburgh.

We didnt dominate as we would have liked to have done tonight. Leinster have a good defence and frustrated us for a lot of the first half.

We turned it around in the second half but this is only the second game in the pool and weve achieved nothing yet  two wins is a good start but the quarter-finals are still a long way off.

Man of the match Thierry Dusautoir, whose sheer energy caused Leinster a number of problems up front, said: We put pressure on Leinster, managed to find a way to create the space to score the tries and, most importantly, got that bonus point score. Thats the most satisfying thing about tonights performance.

Winger Vincent Clerc, who grabbed the bonus point try in the fifth-minute of injury-time, added: We had to work hard for the bonus point. We had to gradually wear Leinster down and eventually it came.

We were good, we had to be patient because Leinster are a very good side. We saw what they can do when they beat us two seasons ago. There are four very good teams in this pool and weve a lot of work to get through yet before we can contemplate the quarter-finals.
