Baird and Calder included
6 November 2007, 1:59 pm
Scotland under-20 coach Colin Robertson has called up two players with Grand Slam pedigree for training ahead of the Six Nations campaign.
Back-row forwards Jonny Baird and Lewis Calder are the sons, respectively, of Roger Baird and Jim Calder who as players helped Scotland win the Five Nations Championship in 1984.

The 19-year-olds feature in an under-20 training squad which is 30 players strong, and will meet up with their international colleagues on November 20 at Murrayfield.

Baird plays for Leicester University, and Calder is on the books of Newcastle Falcons.

Colin Robertson, the new under-20 team coach, is confident his troops will be in good shape by the time the Six Nations begins.

He said: We will play against Glasgows back-up squad in December and that will be an important match for us before we open our Six Nations campaign against France in February.

Its a big year for the under-20s with the IRB World Championship at the end of the season in June.
