Jason White is hoping Scotland's two August Test matches against Ireland and South Africa mark his comeback from injury.
The Sale Sharks flanker captained Scotland to victories over England, France and Italy in the RBS 6 Nations Championships last season before suffering a knee injury against Romania in November.
The two summer matches replace the annual autumn internationals and will form part of Scotlands preparation for the World Cup which kicks off in September.
And White, 29, is targeting the Ireland game for his return to the international arena.
He said: Ive been working hard on my rehabilitation since I damaged my knee against Romania last autumn and had to undergo surgery.
That recovery has included spending three weeks with a specialist in the United States and Im right on track just now to be fighting fit and ready to play in the game against Ireland.
