Italy scrum-half Alessandro Troncon is desperate for one last crack at the World Cup with the Azzurri.
Troncon, 33, was recalled to action for Italy in this years RBS 6 Nations tournament in what proved their best ever campaign in the northern hemispheres premier rugby competition.
The Clermont Auvergne player now hopes he will get the nod for the World Cup to be staged in France later this year.
Troncon said: Im dreaming every day of being part of the Azzurri squad for the World Cup in France.
This definitely will be my last chance to play in a World Cup tournament and I want to play in it.
The Treviso-born scrum-half, who earned four caps in the 2003 World Cup in Australia under former coach John Kirwans reign, believes he still has a lot to offer in this years tournament.
After the RBS 6 Nations, I was a bit worried about my fitness, but I was wrong as I am still playing at my best with my team Clermont Auvergne in the Top 14.
I believe Im still at my best and my fitness and form is great, said Troncon.
If I receive a phone call from the federation about a call-up to France 2007, I will not think twice.
I know its every players dream but for me it is also a last chance to wear the Azzurri shirt, and this tournament is coming at the right time.
So I will do everything to be ready if (Italy coach) Pierre (Berbizier) still believes in me.
Troncon rolled back the years in the last RBS 6 Nations, where the Azzurri claimed their first ever away win in the competition in Edinburgh against Scotland and then tasted victory against Wales on home soil.
However, Troncon is tipping New Zealand, France and Australia as likely winners of the trophy while he wont discount the chances of South Africa, Argentina and Ireland.
The All Blacks are the team to beat in France this September but (France coach Bernard) Laportes team are playing at home and they can turn it on in front of 80.000 fans so I would not be surprised if they won the tournament, said Troncon.
Also we cant forget teams like Australia and South Africa who have great individuals in their ranks.
Argentina could be the tournament surprise package as they always upset at least one of the big favourites.
Also, the Irish are going into the World Cup in France with a strong squad, especially Brian ODriscoll, said the scrum-half of the Ireland centre and his team-mates.
