Hall joins Warriors
11 April 2007, 3:18 pm
Scotland hooker Dougie Hall has signed for Glasgow Warriors on a two-year contract from Edinburgh Rugby.
Hall, who has 19 caps, will join the Warriors squad next season despite having had other offers from outside of Scotland.

Hall said: Ive thoroughly enjoyed my five years with Edinburgh. Its been a great experience and Ill miss the players, staff and supporters.

I played all my senior club rugby in Glasgow and got my apprentice contract playing out of Hughenden with Hillhead/Jordanhill. Im looking forward to giving back to Glasgow some of the experience Ive gained in the past five years.

The Warriors are clearly going places now and Ive been more and more impressed by them this season so Im really looking forward to making the move and renewing my partnership with Alastair Kellock who also joined the Warriors from Edinburgh, he added.

The 26-year-old hooker started his professional career with an apprentice contract with Glasgow Caledonians before gaining a full time contract with Glasgow Rugby.

Winning his first Scotland cap off the bench against Wales in a Rugby World Cup warm-up game four years ago, Hall boasts many representative honours for Scotland, earning respect at Scotland Under-19, Under-21 and Scotland A level.

Hall continued: I think every player thinks carefully about where they want to play when its time to renew contracts.

I seriously considered staying with Edinburgh and looked at other offers not just in Scotland.

Its important for players to challenge themselves in new ways and going to Glasgow gives me the opportunity to further my career in Scotland.

Glasgow Warriors coach Sean Lineen added: Dougies move sends a really positive message not just to the Warriors but to Scottish rugby.

"Im already planning for a stronger squad for next season and its exciting to think Dougie will now be part of it, in a pretty impressive pack.

This is my first player signing since the recent decision on our pro teams and there will be more to follow. Im confident Dougie will fit in well with the forwards and Glasgow will welcome him back.
