George Chuter has dismissed any title talk surrounding England's RBS 6 Nations finale against Wales as being "far too premature".
England will arrive in Cardiff on Saturday with an outside chance of securing silverware for the first time since 2003.
If a resurgent Italy beat Ireland at the Stadio Flaminio and Scotland stun France in Paris, then a Millennium Stadium draw would be enough for England to start celebrating.
It is far more likely though that Ireland and France will both win, which would leave England needing a landslide success against Wales to have any realistic chance of finishing above their title rivals on points difference.
But England hooker Chuter believes the world champions have enough on their plate just trying to beat wooden spoon favourites Wales, let alone posting a cricket score.
He said: Almost when any country plays England, their previous results and form go out of the window.
It is a one-off game against the old enemy, as it were, and I suspect Wales four losses in this seasons Six Nations will be used as a big motivation for them.
But I dont think they will need much more motivation than just the fact of playing against England.
For us, it is far too difficult a game to go there and allow ourselves to think about winning by a certain number of points.
We will concentrate on trying to win the game first. We want to get the performance right and record a win, but it is far too premature to be thinking about the championship.
Wales stand one defeat away from a second RBS 6 Nations whitewash in four years, while their only victories in eight starts this season came against the Pacific Islanders and Canada.
Pressure is mounting on Wales coach Gareth Jenkins as a result, but Chuter is wary of the backlash potential surrounding Saturdays encounter.
He added: (Wales) will be getting it left, right and centre from the Welsh press, who are very passionate about their rugby, and they will come out there on Saturday with a point to prove.
Its Wales versus England in Wales, and there is so much more emotion about this game than perhaps Wales versus Italy.
It is backs to the wall - they will come out fighting - and it is going to be a tough game. With Wales having a bit of fear about it, that makes it an even tougher occasion.
