Italy prop Andrea Lo Cicero believes coach Pierre Berbizier has finally instilled a winning mentality in the national team.
The Azzurri celebrated a historic triumph against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday after claiming their first ever RBS 6 Nations victory away from home.
Berbizier's men had already given an inspiring performance at Twickenham against England two weeks ago before beating the Scots 37-17.
And Lo Cicero admits the recent performances have raised the teams self-belief.
'Pierre has been telling us for some time that we have to be audacious,' said Lo Cicero.
'He says that we have to believe in ourselves, that we are at the same level as the rest of the teams in this tournament.
'Against Scotland we proved that was the case.'
The win was all the more special for 29-year-old Lo Cicero, who has played in every Six Nations tournament since the Italians joined the ranks back in 2000.
Lo Cicero has made a team record 29 appearances in the competition.
'What makes me proud is that I have been here since the beginning,' the prop continued.
'I have been capped in every single game and it's a sign of continuity, of my love for this national team and for my country.
'I made my tournament debut against England and I remember my direct opponents were Jason Leonard and Darren Garforth, who gave me their jerseys at the end of the game.
'I saw Leonard two weeks ago in London, he complimented my form.
'I have lost weight and I feel really well while he (Leonard) has put on weight.'
Italy will be looking to keep up their form in their remaining two games at the Stadio Flaminio, against Wales on March 10 and Ireland one week later.
