Wales would have come away from the Millennium Stadium on Sunday full of regret - they could have and should have beaten Ireland.
It was a result that slipped away as they created enough opportunities, had enough possession and controlled a large amount of the game, but they missed the pace of Shane Williams, Gareth Thomas and Mark Jones. Williams, Thomas and Jones are the natural try scores in the Welsh squad.
On the other hand, Ireland were clinical on the back of a superb performance by Gordon DArcy in midfield.
I was pleased with a number of elements in Wales game. They seemed to have an idea of what they were trying to do and the pack really put Ireland under pressure with Alun Wyn Jones and Alix Popham both having superb matches.
But Ireland were more streetwise and played to the referee, which is what you have do. Eddie OSullivans men, however, will have to step up a gear against France but it should be a wonderful occasion at Croke Park, one which Im very much looking forward to.
For Wales, the game against Scotland now becomes hugely important as it is vital they get back to winning ways.
Scotland were poor against England but will be galvanised and aggressive in front of their own crowd.
Wales pack will have to put in a similar performance to that which they did against Ireland.
