Sean Lamont insists he is ready to sacrifice personal glory for team gain as Scotland embark on their RBS 6 Nations campaign.
The 26-year-old Northampton Saints winger started last seasons Six Nations campaign with a bang, scoring two tries against France as Scotland stunned the eventual champions 20-16.
A similar display against England at Twickenham on Saturday would go a long way to securing an even more impressive start to this seasons competition for head coach Frank Haddens team.
But the strong-running Lamont, who bookmakers rate as Scotlands likely top try scorer in the Six Nations, argues that personal totals are the furthest thing from his mind.
As Scotland gear up to take on the world champions, Lamont said: Id be quite happily get no tries if, as a team, we get a full house of wins in the championship.
Wingers are marked by how many tries are scored, but Ive spoken to Frank Hadden about this and I know that if I can make so many carries in a game then I am doing my bit for the team.
So, even if I dont get any tries, but somebody else does because of the yards Ive made, then Ill be happy with that.
Everyone loves scoring tries because thats what gets your name in the paper, but if the team scores off your yards thats just as good.
Having scored one of Scotlands three tries the last time they played England away, Lamont is one of the few players in the visiting squad who knows what it is like to silence the Twickenham crowd.
However his memories of that match, which Scotland eventually lost 43-22, are slightly hazy.
I scored in 2005 at Twickenham - a five-yard flop after a break by Andy Craig - but I was suffering with a really sore head after a clash with Craigy earlier in the game, Lamont recalled.
One of their players had broken through the middle and he went in with his right shoulder while I used my left and our heads whacked into each other.
I had an absolute blinder of a headache for the rest of the game. I didnt come off and I think I remember most of the match okay I suppose its just one of those things that happens.
