World Cup bases announced
19 January 2007, 2:42 pm
Rugby World Cup holders England will be based in Versailles, just outside Paris, for the initial pool stages of the 2007 Rugby World Cup, while Wales will be located at Saint-Nazaire near Nantes, Ireland in Bordeaux and Scotland in St Etienne.
Tournament organisers have announced the 'base camp' locations for all 20 countries taking part in this year's tournament.

England play two of their group games in Paris, with Lens (USA) and Nantes (Samoa) also on the agenda.

Teams will stay and train in the respective town or city and will play at least one match in their base camp region.

They will also travel to other match cities from the base camp, stay in the match city for a selected period of time then return to base.

Standardised training facilities, meanwhile, will comprise one full-size rugby pitch, access to a reserve pitch, an indoor training area, swimming pool and gymnasium.

After the pool stages conclude in late September, teams not qualifying for the knockout phase will return home.
The quarter-finalists are scheduled to arrive at their respective venues - Cardiff, Marseille or Paris - on Tuesday, October 2.
The tournament kicks off on Friday, September 7, with host nation France tackling Argentina.
