England captain Phil Vickery is set to play in the RBS 6 Nations Championship after surviving an injury scare while playing for Wasps in the European Cup on Saturday.
Vickery crumpled to the deck after hitting a ruck awkwardly midway through the second half of Wasps 22-14 victory over Perpignan at Adams Park.
Initial fears the prop had suffered a recurrence of his back injury were allayed when he stood up, albeit groggily, to continue.
Peter Bracken replaced the former Gloucester player after 77 minutes as Wasps director of rugby Ian McGeechan freshened up his front row.
Vickery was central to a powerful Wasps scrum and his performance impressed opposite number and England team-mate Perry Freshwater.
Wasps attacked us in the scrum and it is good to see him playing well. He had a tremendous game in the scrum today, said Freshwater.
Vickery is set to lead England in their Six Nations opener against Scotland at Twickenham on February 3.
