Forrester gets contract extension
10 January 2007, 3:09 pm
Gloucester and England number eight James Forrester has signed a new deal that will keep him at Kingsholm until 2010.
The 25-year-old, who has scored 31 tries in 108 appearances since making his club debut in 2000/01, has agreed a three-year contract extension.

'I am thrilled everything has been completed really quickly again,' Forrester said.

'I can now focus on playing as big a role as possible for both Gloucester and England in what is a big year.'

Forrester, who was named as the Premiership player of the month for September, was set to add to his two England caps in the autumn internationals but a knee injury ruled him out.

He had to settle for a place in the second-string Saxons squad rather than the senior party for the Six Nations.

Forrester joins fellow emerging Gloucester youngsters Anthony Allen, Jack Forster, Jack Adams and Jonathan Pendlebury in signing new contracts.

'We are all very, very pleased he has signed a new contract because James is the sort of international-standard athlete we want to build a team around,' said head coach Dean Ryan.

'James has tremendous natural ability but has also worked exceptionally hard on areas of his game that didn't come as naturally to become one of the most dangerous and threatening attacking forwards in the game.

'Re-signing him just confirms our intention to keep taking this squad forward in the right way by securing top-class players.'
