Wasps director of rugby Ian McGeechan is concerned that new England captain Phil Vickery could be besieged by media attention in the lead up to the RBS 6 Nations.
Vickery was named as skipper last week and takes over at the helm from Leicesters Martin Corry.
"We don't want a media frenzy for the next month," said McGeechan to BBC Sport.
"It's fine if he has one or two things to do, but not 30. We need to get the balance right."
England open their campaign against Scotland on February 3 with Vickery still making his way back from a third back operation.
"We need to let him settle," said the former Scotland and Lions coach.
"He'll have huge pressure anyway and it's a massive position to hold. Let's put it on the back burner for three weeks and let him concentrate on having a family life and on playing well for Wasps.
"I'll speak to Brian (Ashton, the England coach) about it. If we get the balance right, Wasps and England will benefit and Phil will be an outstanding captain and player."
Vickery made his fourth Premiership start of the season in Wasps' narrow 19-14 win over Worcester on Sunday.
