Scotland head coach Frank Hadden has received a boost ahead of the Autumn Test series with Allister Hogg set to return to action for Edinburgh.
The back-row forward has not played since suffering an elbow injury in the Magners League win over Glasgow Warriors on September 29.
But the 23-year-old will start on the bench for the visit of Cardiff Blues on Friday.
Edinburgh apprentice David McCall will make his first appearance for the club in the game at Murrayfield.
The 19-year-old winger has been named in the starting line-up by coach Lynn Howells, while fellow trainee Steven Turnbull has been included in the team at second row.
Hooker Steven Lawrie is included among the substitutes for the game.
