Welsh captaincy candidates on trial

Wales coach Gareth Jenkins has put the Wales captaincy candidates on trial for a month before deciding who will wear the armband through to the next World Cup.

Jenkins will name his skipper in October and has confirmed whoever is chosen will lead Wales to the 2007 World Cup in France.

''I want to look at the form and mindset of a group of contenders in training and match situations throughout September before making an announcement some time in October,'' said Jenkins to Wales on Sunday.

''All the candidates I am looking at are capable of taking on this type of role.''
