Italy inflicted a comprehensive 52-6 defeat on Japan at Tokyo's Chichibunomiya Stadium on Sunday.
Wataru Ikeda gave the hosts the lead with a fourth-minute penalty, but the Azzurri dominated from the moment Josh Sole crossed the whitewash three minutes later.
Mirco Bergamasco scored a brace of tries, with David Bortolussi, Denis Dallan, Santiago Dellape and Benjamin de Jager completing the scoring.
Italy also benefited from a faultless kicking display from Ramiro Pez, who landed four conversions and a penalty, and Bortolussi, who kicked three conversions.
Japan's other points came from a second Ikeda penalty in the 48th minute, but they slipped to a second heavy defeat in a week following their reversal to Tonga.
