Frederic Michalak has been ruled out of France's summer Tests against Romania and South Africa through injury.
The mercurial fly-half hurt his shoulder during Toulouses 40-13 defeat to Biarritz in the final of the French Championship at the Stade de France on Saturday.
His place in the 26-man squad goes to Perpignan centre David Marty.
There was already a shortage of fly-halves in the party and Michalak had originally asked national team coach Bernard Laporte and team manager Jo Maso to be omitted from this summer's international schedule so he could rest.
But the shortage of available number 10s meant he was picked nonetheless.
Michalaks place in the team may go to Damien Traille, the Biarritz centre whose experience at fly-half is limited, or Thomas Castaignede.
The Saracens utility man has not played at number 10 for Les Bleus since 1999.
France play Romania in Bucharest on Saturday and South Africa seven days later in Cape Town.
