Week Six
20 March 2006, 10:33 am
I was very pleased with the result against England and it was fantastic to see Ireland win the Triple Crown. It was probably the best game of a great day of rugby.
England started well with Jamie Noons early try but Ireland responded quickly. Shane Horgan showed good skills for his first try, but the ball was in touch. Its a ruling that needs looking at.

Andy Goode missed several chances in the first half but it was a nerve-wracking day for him. It didnt prove crucial as Ronan OGara missed at that stage too. I was worried that we did not take our chances.

Paul OConnell had another strong game. It was probably not evident in open play but he showed a high level of work. Also, Jerry Flannery had a very good game. Its great to see him coming through.

Horgan took his second try brilliantly, the way he switched the ball from one hand to another was very impressive.

Winning the Triple Crown offers great hope considering the young age of the team, but our squad still has a good level of experience.

England played well for a side with seven changes after they underperformed against Scotland and France.

Im not one for chopping and changing so I would stick with Andy Robinson, but theres pressure to change the coaching staff.

If Ireland want to compete in the World Cup we need more strength in depth in the front row and in the half backs.

There needs to be more pressure for places. You always have to be realistic with Ireland. Injuries in these areas could write off our chances.
