Scotland international Andrew Henderson is aiming to break another personal hoodoo after ending his winless streak against England in the RBS 6 Nations Championship.
The Glasgow Warriors centre made his first Calcutta Cup start against England and played his part in the 18-12 win at Murrayfield.
Now the 26-year-old wants to claim his first win over Ireland since his debut as a replacement against the Irish in the Six Nations in September 2001.
Henderson said: I made my debut against Ireland and we won the game but, since then, we have been on the wrong end of a number of defeats.
We know how good they are and have class players all over their team, so we know it will be tough.
I saw their win over Wales on Sunday and they were very impressive.
The Irish don't give anything away and were clinical with their chances.
But Henderson revelled in the atmosphere against England on Saturday, despite seeing little attacking action in a resolute defensive display by the Scots.
He added: I didn't see a huge amount of the ball but that is absolutely fine if we can defend like that.
I beat England in the Students' World Cup but it was my first senior start against them.
Previously, I had come off the bench before and was on the losing side.
It is a credit to England that we were so delighted to win against them because it is so rare.
