White's appointment as skipper by new Scotland coach Frank Hadden has been a major influence in the Scots' revival in this year's RBS 6 Nations Championship.

White has also played a big part in helping Sale establish top spot in the English Premiership and the threat posed by the 6ft 5in flanker is not lost on Sheridan.

He is a reasonably quiet sort of individual but you look at the way he plays and the example he sets, Sheridan said of his clubmate.

He is very physical, a ball carrier, he pinches a lot of ball off the ground and he is also very good in defence.

When he is knocking someone flying backwards his other team members are feeding off that and at Sale we have found that he will make a turnover tackle and it lifts everyone else. He is a top class player.

But Andy Robinson's side will arrive fresh from victory over Italy in Rome - their first away win in the RBS 6 Nations for two years - and Sheridan does not expect them to be affected by a partisan Murrayfield crowd.

Everyone knows the benefit of having a crowd behind you and Scotland will have that, but the important thing for us is to go away from home and win and not get caught up in the mentality of thinking we are not at Twickenham so we are going to struggle.

You have to go away and play your normal game and not let the outside factors worry you. Whether you have a crowd really getting behind you or a crowd against you, either way you can draw something from it and feed off it to make use of that atmosphere, he said.
