Scotland international Gordon Ross is hoping to follow the example of his teenage cousin as he prepares for the RBS 6 Nations Championship trip to Wales.
The Leeds Tykes stand-off will be on the bench at the Millennium Stadium as Dan Parks of Glasgow Warriors continues at number 10 after his fine display in the 20-16 defeat of France on Sunday.
But the 27-year-old insists the form of Hearts striker Calum Elliot - his cousin - has not gone unnoticed as an example of what can be achieved with patience.
The 18-year-old Tynecastle forward has scored twice in his last three appearances for the Scottish Premier League side.
Ross said: My cousin has done very well for us and we are very proud of his achievements with Hearts recently.
He has waited patiently for his chance and has now started banging in a few goals.
But, while Ross waits for his opportunity in the starting XV, he is also enjoying the way Scottish pride is being restored.
Matt Williams was sacked by the Scottish Rugby Union 10 months ago after claiming just three Test wins from 17 matches and amid rumours of dressing-room unrest.
However, the arrival of Frank Hadden as head coach has lifted spirits in the Scotland squad, with the victory over Les Bleus on Sunday underlining the confidence among the players.
Ross said: The win over France was terrific to be involved in. It was a great win for us.
It was great to be involved in a result which lifted Scottish pride and has obviously brought a renewed interest in the game.
