Ireland fly-half David Humphreys is a target of South African franchise Stormers for the upcoming Super 14 season.
Coach Kobus van der Merwe confirmed he hoped to sign either Humphreys or Leopards youngster Naas Olivier to cover at number 10 for Peter Grant this season.
There is the possibility of Humphreys taking a sabbatical (from international rugby). Ireland are thinking of saving him for the 2007 World Cup, Van der Merwe told the Cape Times.
The problem is that he has a contract with Ulster, and there are one or two complications getting him out of that. I'm positive. The talks are still alive.
However, Ulster chief Michael Reid has claimed no contact has been made by the Stormers regarding Humphreys, whose current contract expires in June.
