Ezio Galon has won a surprise recall to the Italy line-up for the opening November Test against Tonga as coach Pierre Berbizier hands several fringe players a chance to shine.
Mauro Bergamasco and Martin Castrogiovanni are among those rested as they are both carrying slight injuries, and although there are no debutants in the side the inclusion of Galon was not expected.
The Rugby Parma three-quarter will make his second international appearance on Saturday - a full four years after winning his first cap.
We have chosen to rest Bergamasco and Castrogiovanni to give a chance to the others to get the right experience, and also the chance for the two injured players to be ready for the next matches, Berbizier said.
We are going into this match with players at 100 per cent condition so it will give them a great chance to develop their maturity at international level.
Italy team to play Tonga on Saturday: Ezio Galon; Mirco Bergamasco, Gonzalo Canale, Cristian Stoica, Ludovico Maria Nitoglia; Ramiro Pez, Paul Griffen; Andrea Lo Cicero, Carlo Festuccia, Carlos Nieto, Carlo Antonio Del Fava, Marco Bortolami, Sergio Parisse, Aaron Ronald Persico, Josh Sole.
Replacements: Fabio Ongaro, Matias Aguero, Valerio Bernabo, Maurizio Zaffiri, Alessandro Zanni, Pablo Canavosio, Luciano Orquera.
