Scotland will play Ireland in a club international match in Dublin next year.
The game will take place at Donnybrook on March 10 - the eve of the RBS 6 Nations Championship international at Lansdowne Road.
Qualification for the match will be decided between the two countries.
The Scottish Rugby Unions interim director of rugby Richie Dixon said: This development was a key plank in our new business plan.
Im delighted as it gives our community club players the opportunity to strive for the level above the club game.
There are thousands of players in Scotland taking honour and pride in representing their community and we are keen to encourage those players to stay in the game.
This very positive step is recognition of the importance we place on those players.
