France winger Xavier Garbajosa has admitted he cannot wait to return to competitive action after a year ruined by a series of knee injuries.
The 29-year-old returned to training with club Toulouse on Monday and was pleased to at last be back playing rugby.
''I was happy to put my boots on and meet up with everybody again, they are special moments like going back to school when you are a child,'' he said.
''It's true that it is a moment I've been impatiently waiting for. All the more so as I have put in so much work. I hope that this comeback will go well and that the outcome will be better than previous years.
''I've had no luck or success. That's what worried me, it was the doubt. I didn't know if I could physically recover from my injuries or if I could reach the same level again.
''In my soul, I am a competitor and I'm going to do everything in order to come back playing my best rugby.''
Garbajosa also insisted his priority was to win his Toulouse place back before contemplating a return for France, whom he has not featured for since 2003.
''I'm very motivated, for sure,'' he added. ''My objective is to be a Toulouse player.''
''I'm going to take things one step at a time.
''Toulouse want to compete on all fronts and win as many titles as possible.''
Toulouse return to action against Bayonne on August 20.
