England 45-16 Argentina
27 June 2005, 8:21 am
Wasps full-back Tom Voyce ran in two tries as rampant England overcame Argentina 45-16 in a one-sided Churchill Cup final at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.
Joe Lydons side had already dispatched Canada 29-5 in their tournament opener but they upped the tempo against Argentina to reclaim the crown they lost to New Zealand Maori last year.

The Pumas produced some bright spells and scored a fine try through Miguel Avramovic but they failed to emulate Englands clinical finishing, while their expected dominance up front never materialised.

Once again all of Englands touchdowns were supplied by their jet-heeled back line, with the predatory Voyce leading the charge, finishing at the top of the Churchill Cups try-scoring chart in the process.

James Simpson-Daniel, Paul Sackey and Andy Gomarsall also crossed as the tourists took their chances with ruthless efficiency, making the most of their superior pace and creativity behind the scrum.

Leicester fly-half Andy Goode suffered mixed fortunes - he missed just one of his six shots at goal but was sent to the sin bin for the second match in succession.
