New Scotland international Kelly Brown admits he thought his debut for the national side would end in disaster.
The Borders back row forward was left stunned as Romania raced into a 10-0 lead over the Scots in Bucharest on Sunday.
But, under the leadership of interim head coach Frank Hadden, the team rallied to claim a 39-19 win.
Brown was simply delighted to earn a win in his first appearance, which included his own try in the closing stages.
He said: ''It was a pretty poor start to my first cap, but the way we came back was excellent. We stretched them by playing wide and then we wore them down.
''It was great to get my try, however, the truth is that it was a score for the whole pack.
We had practised tight forward play for the whole week before the game. The catch and drive was sound and we hammered it home.
''The main thing was that we didnt panic after the shaky start.
We knew we had too much talent to lose and we had total faith in our ability.
''It was a blow to lose Jon Petrie to injury before half-time, but, as a squad, we have prepared for any eventuality and Andy Wilson came off the bench to do a decent job.''
