Scottish flanker Ross Beattie has signed a new two-year deal with Northampton Saints after impressing head coach Budge Pountney.
Northampton recruited Beattie, 27, as an emergency signing from Celtic League side Newport Gwent Dragons in December to bolster a pack depleted by injuries.
Beattie has played seven times for the Saints since and Pountney was delighted to agree a long-term deal with the Scotland international.
''It's great news to be able to sign somebody of Ross Beattie's experience,'' he said.
''Ross has a great chance to prove a point at this club and with a lot of dedication he will make that point.''
Beattie said: ''I am very pleased to have signed a new contract with Saints. I have really enjoyed my last three months here and there is no other club I want to play for.''
