Italy coach John Kirwan has received a vote of confidence by one of the powerbrokers of rugby in the country, team manager Marco Bollesan.
Kirwan has been under pressure since the Italians finished the RBS 6 Nations without a victory, giving them the wooden spoon for the first time under his leadership.
The Italian federations president, Giancarlo Dondi, and the council will meet on April 8 to decide the All Black legends future, and Bollesan hopes that drastic action will not be taken.
I hope that Kirwans contract is maintained and that he can continue to coach Italy, Bollesan said.
I am convinced the results will eventually arrive.
The president of the Italian federation has always had a lot of trust in John, but for different reasons.
Results havent been very positive and when this happens, it is right to have a period of reflection.
Kirwan, who replaced fellow New Zealander Brad Johnstone in 2002, is contracted to lead the Azzurri through the 2007 World Cup.
