Perugini cleared

Italy prop Salvatore Perugini has been cleared of any wrongdoing in Saturday's RBS 6 Nations match with France.

Perugini, who plays his club rugby for Calvisano, had been cited by France after an incident involving French winger Christophe Dominici.

However, the disciplinary committee, meeting at Londons Heathrow Airport, ruled that Perugini did not intend to foul his opponent and that the offence was reckless and would not have warranted a red card.

Perugini will therefore be able to continue playing for his club.

The player was accompanied by Italy coach John Kirwan and a London-based lawyer at the hearing.

Dominici has been ordered to rest for 21 days after the incident which led to him being stretchered off at the Stadio Flaminio during the match won 56-13 by Les Bleus.
