Cueto thankful for Robinson loyalty
22 March 2005, 9:53 pm
Mark Cueto has expressed his gratitude to head coach Andy Robinson for showing faith in him and the other new faces in the England squad.
Cueto is getting used to life on the international stage, having scored four tries in the last two RBS 6 Nations matches as the world champions got back on track after narrowly losing their opening three matches.

The Sale Sharks winger is one of a group of relative newcomers to the England scene - including the likes of Jamie Noon, Olly Barkley, Charlie Hodgson, Harry Ellis and Matt Stevens - who has benefited from the faith Robinson has shown in them.

It is reassuring that Robbo gives us that sort of loyalty, said Cueto.

There are maybe times, when you are on the wrong end of a score, it would be quite easy to swap and change the team around and look for different players to step in and step up so it was nice for him to show the loyalty towards us and hopefully weve proved
what we can do now.

That faith has been repaid with 13 tries in the big wins over Italy and Scotland, and Cueto added: Obviously the more you play together as a squad the more you will improve.

Its always difficult at the start of a big campaign like this.

''Even prior to the autumn internationals it was a massively changed team from the summer and then at the start of the Six Nations there were quite a lot of different names in there from the autumn so youve just got to adapt.

The more the tournaments gone on the better weve got. Its the nature of the game that the more games you play at international level the more comfortable you become.
