The game will take place at Aberdeens Pittodrie Stadium on Tuesday, May 24 at 7.30pm.

Aberdeen-born scrum-half Chris Cusiter is relishing the opportunity to play in his home town.

He said: Its always a thrill and honour for me to play for Scotland but it would be an extra special feeling to run out in the blue jersey at Pittodrie.

Ive been an Aberdeen football fan all my life. I remember when I was at primary school being a ballboy at Pittodrie. I think it was a game against Airdrie and it was great for me to see heroes like Alex McLeish, Theo Snelders and Eoin Jess.

This season Scottish Rugby has taken the Scotland team to Glasgow and Perth for matches against Australia and Japan respectively.

This has been appreciated by supporters who stay in, or close to, these two cities and has also given us the chance to appeal to new supporters.

If we wish to be serious contenders to bring major international events to Scotland, such as the 2015 Rugby World Cup, then we must demonstrate, much as we did at the IRB under-21 Rugby World Championship last year, that international sporting events can be held in different parts of Scotland.

The Barbarians provisional squad for the game includes Australian World Cup winners Joe Roff and Matt Burke, Springbok back-row Corne Krige, French back Thomas Castaignede and Ireland stand-off David Humphreys.
