Mark Cueto has staked a strong claim for a place on this summer's British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand with eight tries in his first eight internationals for England.
The Sale Sharks winger has swooped at the right time, with four tries in the last two RBS 6 Nations matches as the world champions got back on the winning path after narrowly losing their opening three matches.
But the 26-year-old is taking nothing for granted, even though Sir Clive Woodward has stated RBS 6 Nations form would play a big part when it came to selecting his tour party.
Obviously Id love to go and fingers crossed Im in that squad but well just have to wait and see, said a cautious Cueto.
All you can do is just keep your head down and play well for your club for three or four weeks until the squad gets announced.
If we had a better Six Nations I think that would have put a different twist on it but you can only do as much as you can.
The three games at the start were disappointing from the squads point of view but we have stepped up to the mark in the last two and everyone has set their stall out and showed what they can do.
A try-a-game record at international level is an impressive return and in Saturdays 43-22 drubbing of Scotland the master-finisher turned provider, delivering the final pass to send in both Joe Worsley and Josh Lewsey for their tries before scoring one himself.
He describes himself as massively happy with his current situation and got almost as much pleasure from laying on tries as he does scoring them, although admits he was desperate to add to his tally.
That try makes it eight from eight games. Normally you are pretty pleased with a one-in-two sort of ratio so to keep up there with tries equal to caps is brilliant for me.
He added: There was a lot of banter in the week that I didnt really have to work for the hat-trick I scored the previous week against Italy, that it was more the guys inside me, so it was my turn to repay the favour.
But its almost as though you cant be happy. Last week I score a hat-trick and everybody is congratulating me but I was thinking I really didnt do a lot for it.
Then I set a couple up but started thinking I wish I could get on the sheet. You are never quite happy but all-in-all Im really pleased with the way the last couple of games have gone.
Ideally Id like to score the hat-trick and set a hat-trick up - but thats greedy.
