Two years ago, they won the Wooden Spoon so they've done very well and I suppose we can look at their example and maybe we can dream of winning the Grand Slam two years after winning the Wooden Spoon ourselves.

Italy have a long way to go. Looking back at the tournament we did okay in three of the games. We should have beaten the Irish but maybe the gameplan was not right. Against Wales we were competitive in the forward division but had problems with the backs - we just don't have enough strength in depth.

But I was very disappointed with the Scotland game because we should have won. It is one of the worst games I've ever seen and even forgetting the bad kicking we should still have won the game.

Against England, we must remember they are still a good team and are rebuilding with new players and a new coach.

Their lower than usual position in the table does not reflect how strong they really are.

The France game was very disappointing and we had problems in the lineout and the scrum - now we must look back at what we have done and start thinking ahead to the World Cup in two years' time.

Regarding coach John Kirwan, as a player you are judged on the pitch and it is time to look at what we have done and where we want to go.

We must not just take results in to consideration but also the state of our development and that is the basis on which a decision about his future must be based.

It is time to do something urgent, it could be an idea to make a change but we need a full programme. Changing the coach is not the only solution.

Regarding whether we should have an Italian coach or a foreigner I would say we have to see if we have a coach who is good enough.

This is not a matter of naming names but a matter of trust and confidence.

We must set up a full programme. Change could be good so long as it is accompanied with a serious plan of action.
