It may have been a disappointing and frustrating RBS 6 Nations tournament for England, but try telling that to Jamie Noon.
The last two months have raced by in a blur of excitement and fulfilled ambition for the England centre.
First there was the small matter of being picked alongside Newcastle clubmate Mathew Tait for a first RBS 6 Nations match against Wales.
Then a month ago there was the birth of his first child.
And on Saturday he rounded it all off with a hat-trick of tries in the 43-22 victory against Scotland, watched for the first time in an England shirt by wife Rachel and son Lewis.
I was made up just to play in the first match, said Noon.
But to score for England is awesome. Ive never scored a hat-trick before and to do it in front of my wife and son was brilliant.
England's performance was much improved from the opening display against Wales in the Millennium Stadium, especially in attacking creativity and penetration from midfield. Much of that was down to Noons fellow centre Olly Barkley and intuitive fly-half Charlie Hodgson.
This Six Nations has been a dream come true for me, admitted Noon.
I didnt expect to be involved. I thought I could possibly get dropped after that first game but to stick around and do so well has made me really happy.
I always thought that given the chance Id do okay. Luckily with people like Olly and Charlie playing well inside me it gives me a good chance as outside centre. It was always going to take a little while to settle nerves and relax. The birth of my son has helped with that because Ive had another focus.
There are, of course, crucial personnel to return from injury in the shape of Jason Robinson, Mike Tindall, Richard Hill and Will Greenwood.
Not that Noon has any intention of standing aside. I feel like Ive got better and better and to top it off with three in the last game was brilliant, the 25-year-old said.
Its just a shame there are no more games. I might have got four next week.
Sure, there was a lot of pressure coming into the team, but weve done okay. We got better and better as we went along.
''Unfortunately we played Wales first. Against France we let ourselves down. But I think weve started firing a bit more and its a shame we havent got any more games.
Hopefully, I can stick around a little longer because theres definitely more to come. Im learning and improving at this level.''
