Coach Matt Williams defended his side after seeing them become the first Scottish team to concede seven tries to England in 122 years of Calcutta Cup rugby.
Scotland were beaten 43-22 as England finished above them in fourth place in the RBS 6 Nations.
But Williams came to the defence of his players and said: Only five teams have ever come down here and won.
The thing I was pleased about was the way we came back and played some running rugby after letting in some soft tries. Im proud of this teams effort.
Scotland paid a heavy price for some poor defending but Williams said: I thought it was a fantastic game of rugby, two sides trained to play a very attractive form of rugby.
I thought we played some excellent rugby but we are missing the tackles. Its a problem we have to work on.
You cannot miss the simple tackles we are missing and win the games. There were times we tackled and defended very well but there were times when we had the players there and they fell off.
Scotland captain Gordon Bulloch added: England have progressed well throughout the tournament and put in a superb performance.
They have a few players who, if you give them the chances, will take them.
Williams agreed: England have been a powerhouse throughout the tournament but they have been unlucky.
They had nothing to lose today, they ran the ball and played some excellent rugby.
Like us, they are going through a rebuilding stage but they are going to be a very tough team to beat.
