Kay looking to heap misery on Scots
16 March 2005, 4:47 pm
Ben Kay has called on England to emulate Wales by hitting Scotland hard and early in the final 2005 RBS 6 Nations match at Twickenham on Saturday.
The Leicester lock has no doubt the Scots can be a dangerous side as they showed with their spirited three-try second-half fightback in last weekend's crushing 46-22 home defeat by Wales.

Scotland will arrive at Twickenham with a lot of pride to restore but Kay said: ''They showed in the second half they can be very, very dangerous.

''We have to make sure we give them limited opportunity and take our opportunities early on in the game.

''They have taken a bash to their confidence and we have to play on that and not let them get their confidence back.''

Both sides, who have only managed to beat the virtual perennial wooden-spoon team Italy in this season's competition, are desperate to finish a disappointing campaign on a high note.

England's 39-7 victory over the Italians at Twickenham last Saturday was far more impressive than Scotland's 18-10 win over the same side, in which they failed to score a try and Kay said: ''It was just great to get our first win in the Championship.

''It was an alien feeling for a lot of us who are more used to winning games to go three without a win.

''Last weekend was an opportunity for us to show what we could do against an improving Italian side who are one of the most physical teams in the world and we came out of it with a lot of positives.''
