Peel hails 'awesome' Wales pack
13 March 2005, 5:21 pm
Dwayne Peel believes Wales produced their most impressive rugby of the 2005 RBS 6 Nations to trounce Scotland and stay on course for a prized Grand Slam.
The visitors to Murrayfield - who have set themselves up for a chance to clinch the title on their home patch against Ireland next weekend - were totally in control by half-time on their way to a 46-22 victory.

Central to that superiority was scrum-half Peel, who paid tribute to the efforts of his Wales pack as well as his fellow backs in a performance which yielded Wales six tries to Scotlands three.

We knew it was going to be a very tough game up here, the half-back told BBC2.

We came out all guns blazing, and I think played some of our best rugby of the tournament in the first half.

The pack were awesome and gave the backs the platform to launch their attacks.

Wales coach Mike Ruddock was justifiably proud of his teams performance - particularly before the interval.

In the first half we started off just as we had finished in Paris [where Wales won against France two weeks ago], he said.

The team spirit has been amazing, and we are delighted to get this result.
