Moody praises 'Johnson-like' Corry
13 March 2005, 1:23 pm
Lewis Moody has drawn comparisons between World Cup-winning captain Martin Johnson and stand-in skipper Martin Corry.
With Jason Robinson injured, Corry led England from the front in the face-saving victory over Italy at Twickenham on Saturday.

Moody, who plays with Johnson and Corry at Leicester, was impressed with the leadership shown in Englands first RBS 6 Nations win of the campaign.

They are both the ultimate competitors and that rubs off on us, said the 26-year-old flanker, commenting on playing under the command of both players.

Martin and Martin have always been very close training buddies and very close friends so I think a lot of their personalities rub off on each other and especially the training ethos that they both take into the game.

They are both very forthright in their approach to everything and thats always very good and an inspiration.

It was business as usual really with Cozza, it was about hard yards out there. There was no flamboyant running or anything like that.

It was just a captains performance and a matter of doing the dog and at times thats what had to be done.

You leave it to the Iain Balshaws and the Martin Cuetos to score the tries and they did that very well, thankfully, said Moody after the 39-7 victory.

Both on and off the pitch, Corry appears to have slotted seamlessly into the role of leader following the thumb injury which forced Robinson out of the side.

Its been a good atmosphere. Martin is just Martin. Hes a good leader and thats the way its been, Moody added.

His style of leadership is to lead as he plays. He says what needs saying and nothing more and thats what I enjoy about playing with him.
