D'Arcy big doubt for Wales clash
13 March 2005, 11:23 am
Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan admits Gordon D'Arcy's chances of featuring in the potential title decider against Wales next Saturday are looking increasingly bleak.
DArcy was ruled out of Saturday's 26-19 defeat by France with the hamstring injury he suffered in the opener against Italy and has played just over 20 minutes of RBS 6 Nations rugby this season.

The 25-year-old Leinster centre visited a specialist rehabilitation centre in Spala, Poland three weeks ago, but his recovery has slowed since and OSullivan is doubtful he will make the trip to Cardiff.

I dont think Gordon is going to make the Wales match the way things are going. There has been uncertainty over his injury for the last few weeks and its not looking good, he said.

DArcy was voted last years RBS 6 Nations player of the tournament and his presence relieves much of the creative burden shouldered by skipper Brian ODriscoll.

Shane Horgan has filled in for DArcy in the past but also missed out against France and his thumb injury will be reassessed before Tuesdays team announcement.

Should either Horgan or DArcy be given the all clear for Wales, Ulster veteran Kevin Maggs will drop the bench after lining-up at inside centre against the French.

Ireland suffered no fresh injuries at Lansdowne Road on Saturday.
