Morgan seeks to banish memories
9 March 2005, 12:01 pm
Kevin Morgan hopes to exorcise painful Murrayfield memories when he lines up for Wales in Sunday's RBS 6 Nations Championship clash against Scotland.
The Newport Gwent Dragons speedster is set to replace injured Wales captain and full-back Gareth Thomas in stage four of his country's Grand Slam bid.

Wales coach Mike Ruddock will announce his starting line-up with Morgan poised for a change of role from the wing, where he started against France.

On his last international appearance at Murrayfield, Morgan suffered a serious injury and Wales lost 30-22 during a wooden spoon season that ultimately saw them whitewashed.

Two years later and a Wales victory would guarantee the best Six Nations campaign in their history, while also setting them up for a Grand Slam tilt against Millennium Stadium visitors Ireland on Saturday week.

Last time at Murrayfield, I went off injured and we lost the game, so it was not a great weekend all round. Hopefully, this time it will be better,'' said Morgan.

Obviously, we are on a high after winning our first three games, but we all realise how difficult it is going to be. We have not played that well at Murrayfield lately, so we have got to get over that barrier.

We have got to make sure we concentrate on performing well, and really not think about the consequences of winning or losing.

If we go up there and start thinking about the following game against Ireland, then we will come unstuck. Our concentration is all on the Scotland match.
