Scotland legend Gavin Hastings has hailed Chris Paterson for equalling his national record of six penalties in an RBS 6 Nations clash.
Patersons kicking proved crucial in the 18-10 win over Italy at Murrayfield on Saturday as the Scots earned their first win in the tournament since 2003.
But the Edinburgh Gunners player also emulated Hastings achievement from 1986 by scoring all 18 points.
Hastings said: ''It certainly brought back memories for me seeing Chris slot six penalties for Scotland as I did.
But that was 19 years previously and the time was right for somebody else to come along and do likewise.
''Im glad it was in a winning cause for Scotland definitely needed a win that will hopefully be the catalyst for further successes.''
