The 22-year-old is desperate to use Saturday's star-studded fundraiser to prove his Test credentials to England head coach Andy Robinson.

Smith was overlooked by England for the first two RBS 6 Nations games and was an unused substitute for last weekend's defeat by Ireland in Dublin despite being in prime form.

''Unfortunately I wasn't able to get on against Ireland but hopefully I can prove myself in this match, which is for a worthwhile cause, and force my way into the England starting XV,'' he said.

''I was meant to have a week off, but when I got the call I jumped at the opportunity to play in a match like this and, of course, to play alongside some terrific players and work under Clive Woodward again.''

Smith joins Ben Cohen and Lawrence Dallaglio as England's representatives in a squad to be captained by Ireland centre Brian O'Driscoll.

The southern hemisphere squad for Saturday's match includes captain George Gregan and All Blacks skipper Tana Umaga.
