Several of Wales' current RBS 6 Nations squad took a break from training on Thursday to spend time with their Under 21, Under 19 and invited academy players for a rugby master-class.
Despite the senior internationals being busy preparing for the all-important clash with France on Saturday 26 February, they still found time to pass on some valuable tips to the youngsters.
Michael Owen, Martyn Williams, Gavin Henson, Shane Williams, Brent Cockbain and their colleagues spent the afternoon ensuring that the stars of the future are on the right course.
We are obviously very busy with preparation for the France game but it is important to us to take time out to give something to the players of the future, but also we are keen to develop greater leadership skills amongst the current squad,'' Wales coach Mike Ruddock told the Welsh Rugby Union's official website, www.wru.co.uk.
The plan involves one to one communication between a senior player and a younger player who plays in the same position.
Rugby specific and fitness specific issues will be discussed in detail, so that the aspiring internationals will have a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to become a senior international.
With the World Cup just two years away it is of paramount importance that we do everything we can to prepare our younger players who could challenge for places in that squad, but also grow and develop our senior internationals so that they can become even more rounded in terms of their leadership skills in particular.
