Sale director of rugby Philippe Saint-Andre tipped winger Steve Hanley to battle his way back into the England reckoning after his two-try display helped the Sharks to a 37-24 win over Northampton.
The 25-year-old Hanley, cast aside by former England coach Clive Woodward over worries over his defence, touched down at the start of each half as Sale strengthened third position in the Premiership with a bonus-point success.
The winger hasn't been named in current head coach Andy Robinson's RBS 6 Nations squad for their opening match with Wales on Saturday, but Saint-Andre is convinced Hanley can improve further.
Steve knows he has to work on his defence, said Saint-Andre. He had an individual session with Kingsley Jones this week and today his defence was good.
He is a big runner and scores lots of tries. If his defence improves, he can get back in the England team.
