Scotland back Hugo Southwell inspired Edinburgh Gunners to an 18-12 Yuletide defeat of Glasgow Warriors to snuff out his recent bitter Murrayfield memories.
Southwell, who endured a below-par performance in the Scots' defeat to South Africa last month, surged over for Edinburghs first try and set up Craig Joiners clincher with a clever kick which totally deceived the Warriors defence.
But Scotland coach Matt Williams was handed another injury worry when lineout specialist Scott Murray failed a fitness test on the groin wrench sustained during the narrow defeat by Ulster in Belfast.
He joined fellow caps Chris Paterson, Nathan Hines, Simon Taylor, Tom Philip and Simon Webster on their high-profile casualty list.
However, Williams will have been pleased to see Glasgow recall Scotland captain Gordon Bulloch at hooker.
