Harinordoquy aims for nine in a row
19 November 2004, 8:39 am
Imanol Harinordoquy is confident France will be celebrating a ninth consecutive win this weekend when they take on Argentina - if they play in the same manner as they did against Australia on Saturday.
France claimed an impressive 27-14 victory over the Wallabies to follow up their triumphant RBS 6 Nations campaign and successful summer tour of Canada and the United States.

That run of success has filled Les Bleus full of optimism and they will face the Pumas in Marseille's Velodrome arena hoping to make it nine wins from nine.

If we play the same way we did last weekend nothing can happen to us,'' said Harinordoquy.

We must prepare well and remain concentrated on our game.

France coach Bernard Laporte and team manager Jo Maso have urged their team to avoid complacency.

We have asked our players not to repeat the usual yo-yo performances, Maso said.

We have a history of fluctuating results. After being euphoric following good results we have often weakened against other sides.

The Argentinians are very solid and are to be taken seriously. We will prepare even more than we did against Australia. The objective is to win all our three matches in November.

And Harinordoquy added: We are not getting carried away by our win over the Wallabies.

Against Australia we showed our potential and played a level game, but I played against the Argentinians the last three times we were beaten and believe me - we take them seriously.

The Basque number eight feels the Pumas have a far less predictable game than Australia.

They are not always very organised and strict with themselves, and I think this is going to be a hard-working and painful match for us, he said.

We must not fall into the trap.
