Owen doubt for Wales

Wales international Michael Owen faces a fitness race for Newport Gwent Dragons' European Cup campaign.

The forward will miss the Celtic League clash against the Borders due to a back problem, which also threatens his fitness for the clash between the Dragons and Newcastle at Rodney Parade.

Its a blow for Michael, said Dragons coach Chris Anderson. "Its the last thing he needed, now that he was getting some games under his belt.

Wales coach Mike Ruddock is set to monitor Owen closely, as he would be a certain selection for the November 6 autumn series opener against Tri-Nations champions South Africa in Cardiff.
