I have presented to the players my vision and the aims for us, the qualities I am looking for in the players and the environment we are trying to set, said Robinson.

I think a lot of how you improve is about the environment you have. I am looking for the toughest competitors, people prepared to challenge me as a coach - and we will be looking to challenge them as well.

We have gone through a tough time, losing five out of six games. But it is our job to put it right.

I am there to win every match. Our focus will be on performing well in the autumn internationals and from there take it on and, we hope, win the grand slam.

The formalities of presenting his case to the RFU have not distracted Robinson from the long-term job at hand - guiding a new-look England team into a bright and successful era.
