Italy hooker Fabio Ongaro believes next month's three Test matches will provide the Azzurri with a good yardstick as to how they are progressing ahead of the 2005 RBS 6 Nations campaign.
John Kirwans side play Canada in L'Aquila on November 6 before taking on the All Blacks in Rome on November 13 and then travelling to Biella, near Turin, for the match against the USA a week later.
I believe we trained at our best this summer and the November Test matches will be handy to see where we are at present and where we are going in the near future, Ongaro said.
John (Kirwan) wants the maximum for November games and I'm sure we are ready to give our best so our team will be in good form ahead of the next RBS 6 Nations, where we have to battle in every game to get more respect than ever.
Ongaro is looking forward to all three matches but particularly cannot wait to pit his wits against the mighty All Blacks.
These matches in November will not be easy at all, even though I believe the USA and Canada can be beaten.
They are well respected teams, but against the All Blacks we must play our best game if we want stay in the game and make our supporters happy.
The Treviso man has spent much of his career fighting to convince coaches he should be the number one choice and, after his return from Australia, finally looks to have achieved his goal.
To be honest I'm convinced John Kirwan is doing a good job with our team and the fact he has changed so little in the last two years is proof of how much he believes in his players.
I have a splendid relationship with him and he is very fair with all of us.
From my point of view I'm playing well and I'm in good form, but of course our coach has to decide whats best for the team.
At present we can't complain because we are getting positive results, so I'm backing him 100%.
